Jawar Mohammed’s court statement

“I am very sick. I have been sick for three days now. When I told the police that I am sick and can’t go to the court, they told me that it won’t take more than half an hour and brought me against my will. I am a politician, and I am in jail because of political reasons – because of my political belief. The government has been running a defamatory media campaign against us and I would not feel safe to receive medical care from a government doctor. I ask the court to issue an order so that I can have a private doctor. My partner and son are in the USA and I ask the court to issue an order so that I can speak to them – expenses on me. The government has installed surveillance cameras in an area prepared for us to meet with our lawyers. This is done to secretly record our conversations, in breach of attorney-client confidentiality.”
