Shrewsbury’s fightback forced Liverpool to replay march

Two late goals from substitute Jason Cummings against runaway leaders of the Premier League Liverpool as League One Shrewsbury Town mounted a remarkable fightback from 2-0 down to win a fourth-round replay of the FA Cup at Anfield.

For the first time since 2015, Liverpool appeared to be going into the fifth round after a fine first-half finish by 18-year-old Curtis Jones was followed by Donald Love’s own goal just after the break.

But Shrewsbury was outstanding throughout and former Hibernian player Cummings is rewarded with two goals in the span of 10 minutes.

In search of a winner, Liverpool sent Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, but Shrewsbury held on to get a deserved replay.

Here is how both teams lined up:

Shrewsbury XI: O’Leary; Williams, Ebanks-Landell, Pierre, Love, Laurent, Goss, Norburn, Golbourne, Whalley, Lang.

Subs: Murphy, Edwards, Beckles, Walker, Udoh, Cummings, Hart.

Liverpool XI: Adrian, Williams, Matip, Lovren, Larouci, Fabinho, Chirivella, Jones, Minamino, Elliott, Origi.

Subs: Kelleher, Keita, Firmino, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Hoever, Alexander-Arnold.
